believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then
are ye my disciples indeed;
{Jn 8:32} And ye shall
know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Proverbs 4:20-23 (ESV)
{Pr 4:20} My son, be
attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.
{Pr 4:21} Let them not
escape from your sight; keep them within your heart.
{Pr 4:22} For they are
life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh.
{Pr 4:23} Keep your
heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.
Psalm
119:11 (KJV)
{Ps 119:11} Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that
I might not sin against thee.
Psalm
119:11 (NET1)
{Ps 119:11} In my heart I store up[14]
your words,[15] so I might not sin
against you.
Psalm
19:7 (KJV)
{Ps 19:7} The law of the LORD
is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the
simple.
Psalm
1:1-3 (KJV)
{Ps 1:1} Blessed is
the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way
of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
{Ps 1:2} But his
delight is in the law of the LORD;
and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
{Ps 1:3} And he
shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his
fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth
shall prosper.
Romans
6:22 (KJV)
{Ro 6:22} But now
being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto
holiness, and the end everlasting life.
John 15:2-3 (KJV)
{Jn 15:2} Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and
every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth
more fruit.
{Jn 15:3} Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto
you.
Pray the Word
Pray with the Word
John 15:7 (ESV)
{Jn 15:7} If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever
you wish, and it will be done for you.
Ephesians 6:17-18 (ESV)
{Eph 6:17} and take the
helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
{Eph 6:18} praying at
all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep
alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
Praying the Spirit is Praying the Word
Isaiah 55:8-13 (KJV)
{Isa 55:8} For my
thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,
saith the LORD.
{Isa 55:9} For as
the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
{Isa 55:10} For as the
rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but
watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to
the sower, and bread to the eater:
{Isa 55:11} So shall my
word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but
it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing
whereto I sent it.
{Isa 55:12} For ye
shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills
shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall
clap their hands.
{Isa 55:13} Instead of
the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up
the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD
for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
What is praying in the Holy Ghost?
Jude 1:20-21 (KJV) {Jude 1:20} But ye, beloved, building up YOURSELVES on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
If we are given the instructions to pray in the Holy Ghost, it must be something we are all given the grace and privilege of doing. These instructions suggest that the believer must choose to give vent and opportunity for this grace to be active in his/her life. The Holy Spirit will not force you to do so; you must choose to pray in the Holy Ghost.
Praying in the Holy Ghost is yielding in the Holy Ghost in praying, allow Him to direct.
§ It can be praying in Tongues or Prophecy as the Spirit gives utterance.
§ It can be praying in Truth as Prompted as the He brings the word to your remembrance.
1) Praying in the Holy Ghost builds up the inner man.
1 Corinthians 14:4 (KJV) {1Co 14:4} He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
1 Corinthians 14:4 (NLT2) {1Co 14:4} A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church.
2) Building up the inner man through prayer helps keep the outer-man under subjection.
Matthew 26:41 (KJV) {Mt 26:41} Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Matthew 26:41 (NLT2) {Mt 26:41} Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!”
3) As a night watchman stands on a high tower to keep watch and guard the city against an approaching enemy, the believer must keep watch over his own life through prayer to guard against temptation.
Colossians 4:2 (KJV) {Col 4:2} Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
1 Peter 4:7 (KJV) {1Pe 4:7} But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
Prayers for Holiness
Matthew 6:13 (KJV)
{Mt 6:13} And lead us
not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and
the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Psalm
19:13-14 (KJV)
{Ps 19:13} Keep back thy servant also from
presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be
upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
{Ps 19:14} Let the words of my mouth, and the
meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
Psalm
119:133 (KJV)
{Ps 119:133} Order my steps in thy word: and let not
any iniquity have dominion over me.
I Don’t think for one minute that you can life holy with help. If you can’t live holy with God’s help; you can’t live holy with a prayer life.
Hebrews 4:15-16 (ESV)
{Heb 4:15} For we do
not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one
who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
{Heb 4:16} Let us then
with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and
find grace to help in time of need.
Walk in God’s Love
1 John 3:14-24 (ESV)
{1Jn 3:14} We know that
we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever
does not love abides in death.
{1Jn 3:15} Everyone who
hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life
abiding in him.
{1Jn 3:16} By this we
know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our
lives for the brothers.
{1Jn 3:17} But if
anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart
against him, how does God’s love abide in him?
{1Jn 3:18} Little
children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.
{1Jn 3:19} By this we
shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him;
{1Jn 3:20} for whenever
our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.
{1Jn 3:21} Beloved, if
our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;
{1Jn 3:22} and whatever
we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what
pleases him.
{1Jn 3:23} And this is
his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love
one another, just as he has commanded us.
{1Jn 3:24} Whoever
keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that
he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.
Jude
1:20-21 (KJV)
{Jude 1:20} But ye, beloved, building up
YOURSELVES on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
{Jude 1:21} Keep YOURSELVES in the love of God, looking for the
mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
¨ building up - to build upon, build up - To finish the structure of which the foundation has already been laid….
Building up Yourselves. The foundation of your most holy faith has been laid, now you must finish the structure. Others can only build you up so far. You must finish the work of building up yourself.
Keep yourselves in the Love of God. God will keep you from falling, but He does so by giving you the grace and tools to keep yourselves. As we follow the instructions of 2 Peter 1:5-10, to building on our faith, adding knowledge, self-control, patience, godliness, brotherly affection, culminating in agape love, we are given the promise that “we will never fall.”
2 Peter 1:10 (King James Version) Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
4) By building up the inner man, keeping the outer man under subjecting, and being on the look out against temptation; all through prayer, the believer can maintain a love walk.
Jude
1:20-21 (KJV)
{Jude 1:20} But ye, beloved, building up
yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
{Jude 1:21} Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking
for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
¨ keep - to detain (in custody; figuratively, to maintain); by extension, to withhold (for personal ends.
% Keeping oneself in the love of God is synonymous to living a holy and righteous life; for to love God is to keep His commandments.
1 John 5:2-3 (KJV)
{1Jn 5:2} By this we
know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his
commandments.
{1Jn 5:3} For this is
the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not
grievous.
