The Lesson - The Holy Spirit helps us to live Holy. How?

Three B’s to Enlist Holy Ghost’s Help for Holiness

1. Birth - His help begins when we are born of the Spirit (born again.)

John 3:6-7 (ESV) 
^{Jn 3:6 (ESV)}  That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
^{Jn 3:7 (ESV)}  Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

Titus 3:5-6 (HCSB) 
^{Tit 3:5 (HCSB)}  He saved us— not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
^{Tit 3:6 (HCSB)}  He poured out this ⌊Spirit⌋ on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

Ephesians 4:24 (ESV)  and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

1 John 5:4 (ESV)  For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

1 John 3:9 (ESV)  No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God.

1. Believe – His help continues when we are believing in the Spirit.

1 John 5:4 (ESV)  For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

1 John 2:16 (KJV)  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Hebrews 10:38-39 (ESV) 
^{Hebrews 10:38 (ESV)}  but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.”
^{Hebrews 10:39 (ESV)}  But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

Galatians 5:22-23 (NASB)

1. Baptism – His help increases when we are baptized in the Spirit.

Micah 3:8 (KJV)  But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.

Acts 1:8 (NASB)  but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

Romans 15:13 (KJV)  Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. 

Ephesians 3:16 (HCSB)  ⌊I pray⌋ that He may grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power in the inner man through His Spirit,
Ephesians 3:20 (HCSB)  Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us—

Six P’s to Engage Holy Ghost Help for Holiness

• Engage - to give attention to something.

1. The Holy Spirit helps us live Holy when we Engage Him through Prayer

Jude 1:20-21 (KJV) 
^{Jude 1:20 (KJV)}  But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
^{Jude 1:21 (KJV)}  Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

1 Corinthians 14:2 (NLT2)  For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will be talking only to God, since people won’t be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit, but it will all be mysterious.

1 Corinthians 14:4 (NLT2)  A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church.

1. The Holy Spirit helps us live Holy when we Engage Him through Praise.

Ephesians 5:18-20 (HCSB) 
^{Ephesians 5:18 (HCSB)}  And don’t get drunk with wine, which ⌊leads to⌋ reckless actions, but be filled by the Spirit:
^{Ephesians 5:19 (HCSB)}  speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music from your heart to the Lord,
^{Ephesians 5:20 (HCSB)}  giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Psalm 8:2 (KJV)  Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

Matthew 21:16 (KJV)  And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

1. The Holy Spirit helps us live Holy when we Engage with His Presence.

Psalm 22:3 (KJV)  But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

Ephesians 2:22 (KJV)  In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:17 (KJV)  Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

1. The Holy Spirit helps us live Holy when we Engage with His Peace.

Colossians 3:15 (AMP)  And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ's] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always].

Philippians 4:9 (KJV)  Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 (KJV)  And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1. The Holy Spirit helps us live Holy when we Engage with His Prodding.

Galatians 5:16 (KJV)  This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Galatians 5:16 (NLT2)  So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.

Galatians 5:19-23 (NLT2) 
^{Galatians 5:19 (NLT2)}  When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures,
^{Galatians 5:20 (NLT2)}  idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division,
^{Galatians 5:21 (NLT2)}  envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
^{Galatians 5:22 (NLT2)}  But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
^{Galatians 5:23 (NLT2)}  gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

1. The Holy Spirit helps us live Holy when we Engage with His Precepts.

John 16:13 (KJV)  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

John 8:31-32 (KJV) 
^{John 8:31 (KJV)}  Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
^{John 8:32 (KJV)}  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Ephesians 5:25-27 (ESV) 
^{Ephesians 5:25 (ESV)}  Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,
^{Ephesians 5:26 (ESV)}  that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,
