Today’s Text

Hebrews 6:12 (HCSB)  so that you won’t become lazy but will be imitators of those who inherit the promises through faith and perseverance.

Introduction

Not only must we claim God’s promise through prayer, but we must pray in faith.

Matthew 21:22 (KJV)²²And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Matthew 21:22 (ESV)²²And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”

Mark 11:24 (NASB95)²⁴“Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.

Today’s Lesson

We must Claim God’s promises by Faith

James 1:5-7 (KJV) 
James 1:5 (KJV)   If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
James 1:6 (KJV)  But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
James 1:7 (KJV)  For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

Hebrews 6:12 (HCSB)  so that you won’t become lazy but will be imitators of those who inherit the promises through faith and perseverance.

'  The Baptism in the Holy Ghost is a promise, but it must be prayed for in faith.

Acts 2:39 (KJV)  For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Luke 11:9 (KJV)  And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

Genuine faith will be manifested in obedience. To receive the manifestation of answered prayer, we must follow through in obedience to God’s word, and divine directions.

We must claim God’s Promises through Obedience

Obedience to God’s written word.

Deuteronomy 7:9 (KJV)  Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

'  The Baptism in the Holy Ghost is a promise, but it must be claimed in the obedience of faith.

Acts 5:32 (ESV) 32 And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”
