Today’s Lesson

The promises of divine guidance

  1. Divine Judgment – God will show us how to be just in every situation.

Psalms 25:9 (KJV) {9} The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

  1. Divine Direction – God will point you or prod into the correct course of action.
    1. A prodding in the right direction
    2. A pointing in the right direction – Psalms 32:8

Psalms 32:8 (KJV) {8} I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

  1. Divine Instruction – God will give us divine understanding which will enable us to make correct decisions.

Psalms 32:8 (KJV) {8} I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

  1. Divine Counsel – We are prone to turn many for advice, but God wants to be our principal advisor.

Isaiah 11:2 (NASB)  The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.

Psalms 73:24 (HCSB) {24} You guide me with Your counsel, and afterwards You will take me up in glory.

The prerequisites of divine guidance.

  1. Meekness / Humility

Psalms 25:9 (KJV) {9} The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

Psalms 25:9 (ESV) {9} He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.

  1. Trust

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT) {5} Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
{6} Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

James 1:5-7 (NKJV) {5} If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
{6} But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
{7} For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;

Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) {11} For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

2 Samuel 22:31 (NKJV) {31} As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

  1. Sincerity - Purity of heart

Matthew 5:8 (NKJV) {8} Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

Jeremiah 29:13 (NKJV) {13} And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Psalm 51:6 (NASB)  Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom.

Mark 4:21-25 (HCSB)
Mark 4:21 (HCSB)  He also said to them, “Is a lamp brought in to be put under a basket or under a bed? Isn’t it to be put on a lampstand?
Mark 4:22 (HCSB)  For nothing is concealed except to be revealed, and nothing hidden except to come to light.
Mark 4:23 (HCSB)  If anyone has ears to hear, he should listen!”
Mark 4:24 (HCSB)  Then He said to them, “Pay attention to what you hear. By the measure you use, it will be measured and added to you.
Mark 4:25 (HCSB)  For to the one who has, it will be given, and from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.”

Psalms 25:8 (HCSB) {8} The Lord is good and upright; therefore He shows sinners the way.

The process of divine guidance.

  1. Feast

John 16:13 (NASB77) {13} "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.

Hebrews 5:11-14 (NKJV) {11} of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.
{12} For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
{13} For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
{14} But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
