How to Engage Holy Spirit’s Help for Harvest (Part 2)
Review
Pray for Laborers to be Sent Forth.
Matthew 9:37-38 (KJV)
Matthew 9:37 (KJV) Then saith he
unto his disciples, The harvest truly is
plenteous, but the labourers are few;
Matthew 9:38 (KJV) Pray ye therefore the Lord of
the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Petition 19#: Father, I pray that the Lord of the Harvest will send forth Laborers into His harvest.
Pray for the Gospel to Speed Ahead.
2 Thessalonians 3:1-3 (ESV)
2 Thessalonians 3:1 (ESV) Finally,
brothers, pray for us,
that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored,
as happened among you,
2 Thessalonians 3:2 (ESV) and that we may be
delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith.
2 Thessalonians 3:3 (ESV) But the
Lord is faithful. He
will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
Petition 20#: Father, I pray that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored.
How to Engage Holy Spirit’s Help for Harvest (cont.)
Pray for Holy Boldness to Share the Gospel.
Ephesians 6:19-20 (HCSB)
Ephesians 6:19 (HCSB) Pray
also for me, that the
message may be given to me when I open my mouth to
make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.
Ephesians 6:20 (HCSB) For this I
am an ambassador in chains. Pray
that I might be bold enough in
Him to speak as I should.
Paul’s prayer request included:
· Prayer, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth.
o Sometimes a well-prepared message can flop because it isn’t exactly what God wants to say in that moment.
o Sometimes a well-prepared message can flop because the minister loses the Spirit’s train of thought.
' No matter how well-prepared we are, we still need the help of the Holy Spirit when we open our mouths to speak.
' We should also remember that a great number of Paul’s preaching opportunities were spontaneous, unplanned encounters; much like our day-to-day witnessing opportunities. Therefore, we should pray these same prayers for ourselves and others who witness for Jesus Christ.
· Second, Paul requested prayer for boldness of clarity.
&
Boldness - all out-spokenness, i.e. frankness,
bluntness, publicity[1]
Plainly,
openly, unmistakably, frankly, without hesitation.[2]
2 Corinthians 3:12 (KJV) Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
· Second, Paul requested prayer for boldness of courage.
& Boldly - Boldness, courage, daring. It means to speak boldly and freely; to speak out and to speak publicly without fear.[3]
God answered the prayers of Paul and the saints who prayed on his behalf for boldness.
Acts 28:30-31 (ESV)
Acts 28:30 (ESV) He lived there
two whole years at his own expense, and welcomed all who came to him,
Acts 28:31 (ESV) proclaiming the
kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness
and without hindrance.
God answered the prayers of early church when they too prayed for boldness. If He answered them, He’ll answer us.
Acts 4:29 (ESV) And
now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to
speak your word with all boldness,
Acts 4:31 (ESV) And when they had
prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they
were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of
God with boldness.
Petition 21#: Father, I pray “that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the Gospel.”
Petition 22#: Father, I “Pray that I might be bold enough in Him to speak as I should.”
Become a Laborer in the Harvest.
John 20:21-22 (KJV)
John 20:21 (KJV) Then said Jesus
to them again, Peace be unto you: as my
Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
John 20:22 (KJV) And when he had
said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
Acts 1:8 (ESV) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Petition 23#: Father, I pray that every member and new convert of Latter Rain and Tabernacle of Prayer and believer within our region will “Receive ye the Holy Ghost.”
Petition 24#: Father, I pray, that every member and new convert of Latter Rain and Tabernacle of Prayer, and believer within our region will be a witness for Jesus Christ to the end of the earth.
2 Corinthians 5:20 (NLT2) So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
Luke 14:23 (KJV) And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
Petition 25#: Father, I pray that every member and new convert of Latter Rain and Tabernacle of Prayer and believer within our region will be an ambassador of Christ and plead with sinners to “come back to God!”.
Petition 26#: Father, I pray that every member and new convert of Latter Rain and Tabernacle of Prayer and believer within our region “Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that God’s house may be filled.”
Be Led by the Holy Spirit.
Acts 8:29-31 (KJV)
Acts 8:29 (KJV) Then the Spirit
said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
Acts 8:30 (KJV) And Philip ran
thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said,
Understandest thou what thou readest?
Acts 8:31 (KJV) And he said, How
can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would
come up and sit with him.
Acts 8:35 (KJV) Then Philip opened
his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
Petition 27#: Father, I pray that every member and new convert of Latter Rain and Tabernacle of Prayer and believer within our region will hear the voice of the Spirit and obey Him.
Isaiah 48:17-19 (ESV)
Isaiah 48:17 (ESV) Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of
Israel: “I am the LORD your God,
who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.
Isaiah 48:18 (ESV) Oh that you had
paid attention to my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a
river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea;
Isaiah 48:19 (ESV) your offspring
would have been like the sand, and your descendants like its grains; their name
would never be cut off or destroyed from before me.”
Petition 28#: Father, I pray that You will teach every member and new convert of Latter Rain and Tabernacle of Prayer and believer within our region to profit and lead us in the way we should go.
Petition 29#: Father, I pray that every member and new convert of Latter Rain and Tabernacle of Prayer and believer within our region will pay attention to Your commandments! Then our peace will be like a river, and our righteousness like the waves of the sea.
Petition 30#: Father, I pray that every member and new convert of Latter Rain and Tabernacle of Prayer and believer within our region will pay attention to Your commands so that our natural and spiritual offspring will be like the sand; our natural and spiritual descendants will be like grains; and their name will never be cut off or destroyed from before You.”
